What are plans and elevations?
Plans and elevations are a way of representing a 3-dimensional object. We have three views of the 3D shape. In this unit learners will learn about plans and elevations, including what they are, how to construct them and how to interpret plans and elevations to generate a 3D image. See Preview Here.
They will learn the three views of a 3D shape:
From the front of the shape, called the front elevation
From the side of the shape, called side elevation
From above looking down on the shape, called the plan view
This amazing interactive resource bundle also includes plans and elevations worksheets based on Edexcel, AQA and OCR exam questions with answers for that extra work.
Probabilities: Independent Events Digital Lesson and Activities for KS3 See Preview Here
In statistics and probability, independent events are those occurrences that are not influenced by other events. This means that the outcome of one event has no effect on the outcome of another event. For example, the flip of a coin and the roll of a die are independent events because the outcome of one does not affect the outcome of the other.
To understand the concept of independent events, it can be helpful to use an interactive lesson or activity. For example, you could have your class conduct a probability experiment where they flip a coin and roll a die multiple times, and record the results in a table. As they do this, they can observe that the outcome of the coin flip does not affect the outcome of the die roll, and vice versa.
Once your learners understand the concept of independent events, you can introduce them to the rule of product. This rule is used to calculate the probability of multiple independent events occurring. For example, if the probability of event A occurring is 1/2, and the probability of event B occurring is 1/3, the probability of both A and B occurring is 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6.
By teaching your learners about independent events and the rule of product, you can help them develop a stronger understanding of probability and its applications in the real world.
How to Calculate probabilities learning objectives:
understand that probability is given on a scale of 0-1;
be able to write probability as fractions, decimals and sometimes as percentages;
calculate probability of single events;
review the use of listings, tables and tree diagrams to calculate the probability of two or more events.
Teachers can use the lesson for whole class teaching and learners can also use it at home to practice at home.
There are lots of drag and drop activities as well as instant feedback.
The lesson contains 19 interactive pages.

Pupils continue to measure using the appropriate tools and units, progressing to using a wider range of measures, including comparing and using mixed units (for example, 1 kg and 200g) and simple equivalents of mixed units (for example, 5m = 500cm).
The comparison of measures includes simple scaling by integers (for example, a given quantity or measure is twice as long or 5 times as high) and this connects to multiplication.
Pupils continue to become fluent in recognising the value of coins, by adding and subtracting amounts, including mixed units, and giving change using manageable amounts. They record £ and p separately. The decimal recording of money is introduced formally in year 4.
Pupils use both analogue and digital 12-hour clocks and record their times. In this way they become fluent in and prepared for using digital 24-hour clocks in year 4.
